Checking In: Mandarin Oriental Munich

Munich is certainly a “must see” city in Germany - it has an amazing biergarten culture, fabulous shopping, a park larger than Central Park in New York City, the BMW museum and more. I spent a quick 2 nights here at the beginning of the month before returning home. At the end of my trip, I wanted a hotel with a central location, which is why I chose to stay at The Mandarin Oriental Munich.

The Mandarin Oriental is perfectly situated between Maximilianstrasse, which is the high-end shopping street in Munich, and the Marienplatz. The Marienplatz is the main square in the city, which you most definitely will walk through during your stay in Munich. Almost anything you’d want to visit is within a 15-20 minute walk of the Mandarin, but often much closer.

Although in walking distance, it is located on a small side street and is very quiet. The only sound you may hear is the Hofbrauhaus down the street - the most famous beer hall in all of Munich.

I also love a city hotel with a rooftop bar, which was a big plus during my sunny stay in Munich. It also also quite nice to have a break from German beer and easily order a cocktail and healthy food options. We’d previously had lunch at a famous biergarten in the English Park and while I love schnitzel and a pretzel, it was nice to be able to order a poke bowl.

The Mandarin Oriental was the perfect way to end my Germany trip - aside from location, rooftop bar, an amazing breakfast spread and a lovely room product, the service was absolutely wonderful.
